SECURITY INFORMATION
The TSA security screening checkpoint at Charleston International Airport opens daily at 4 a.m. and closes at approximately 8 p.m. prior to the last regularly scheduled departing flight of the day. The checkpoint may close earlier or remain open later depending on departing flight schedules. Airlines are responsible for notifying the TSA in advance of a need (such as delays) for extended checkpoint operating hours.
Travel Tips
- Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes to two (2) hours before scheduled departure to allow enough time to park, check in and go through security.
- Passenger boarding typically begins 30 to 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Passengers should arrive at their boarding gate prior to this.
- When checking in online, your airline may assume you have already arrived at the airport and that you are at your gate waiting to board your flight.
- Even when your flight is delayed, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport before the scheduled closing of the checkpoint to ensure you don’t miss your flight.
