Volunteer Programs

Ambassador Program

Charleston International Airport Ambassadors are volunteers from all walks of life who donate their time, experience, and enthusiasm to help travelers enjoy their time at the airport and in the Lowcountry. Because they live and work here, our volunteers are able to provide visitors with information about transportation, tourism, and entertainment related activities in the local area.

The Ambassadors Program launched in 2011 to help travelers navigate our growing airport. Charleston International Airport (CHS) welcomes 15,000 people a day through its doors and over 6 million passengers a year. The program began with six volunteers and has grown to more than 20 men and women who volunteer at least two hours a week. Among our volunteers are former college professors, teachers, researchers, and retired leaders in business and industry.

By volunteering your time as an Ambassador at Charleston International Airport, you will gain the personal satisfaction of providing a helping hand to the many visitors who will be grateful for your help. The entire airport community will appreciate your assistance!

Paws for Takeoff

Paws for Takeoff is a unique in-house program that allows certified therapy dogs and their handlers to interact with passengers and employees at CHS. These four-legged friends love visiting with anyone who visits CHS. Therapy pets can help create a welcoming and calming environment, and we hope passengers and visitors enjoy interacting with these special members of our Guest Services team.
