Leonitta L. Turner Named Director of Human Resources

North Charleston S.C. -  Leonitta L. Turner has been named Director of Human Resources for the Charleston County Aviation Authority. In this role, Turner will plan, direct, and coordinate a comprehensive human resources management program for CCAA employees. Leonitta “Nitta”, a 19-year Human Resource Executive, will also be responsible for HR strategic planning, health & safety, recruitment and selection, classification, compensation & benefits, training, employee relations, performance management, and employee training & development. Turner joins the Authority following a career with Dorchester County Government as Human Resources Director where she developed and led the Human Resource Department and all HR functions for 1000+ employees including talent acquisition and development, employee relations, benefits, compensation, wellness, and organizational development through the utilization of strategic planning and innovative human resource techniques.

Turner holds a Master of Arts degree in Adult Education with Human Resources Cognate from The Ohio State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Religious Studies from Ohio Dominican University, and a Certificate in Employee Relations Law from the Institute of Applied Management and Law. She is SPHR certified through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM-SCP certified through the Society for Human Resource Management. Turner serves as a member and conference committee representative for the 2020 International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) Southern Region, and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, and Palmetto Society for Human Resources Management.
