Partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection brings new convenience for residents
(North Charleston, S.C.) — Charleston International Airport (CHS), in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), today celebrated the opening of South Carolina’s first Global Entry Enrollment Center.
The new center allows South Carolina residents to complete their Global Entry interview process without traveling out of state—a major convenience for frequent international travelers, business leaders, and residents across the region. Until now, applicants had to travel to enrollment centers in cities such as Charlotte or Atlanta.
“This is a milestone for both Charleston International and the state of South Carolina,” said Elliott Summey, President and CEO of Charleston International Airport. “Our new Global Entry Enrollment Center means residents no longer have to leave the state for their interviews. It’s an investment in convenience, in customer service, and in Charleston’s role as South Carolina’s global gateway.”
The 1,230-square-foot facility, built to CBP and Department of Homeland Security standards, includes:
- A public waiting room
- Administrator’s office with transaction window
- Three interview offices
- Breakroom
- IT closet
The project represents a $724,300 investment in customer service, efficiency, and international connectivity.
“The demand for the Global Entry Trusted Traveler Program continues to grow,” said CBP Atlanta Director of Field Operations Gregory Alveraz. “This new enrollment center in Charleston reflects CBP’s commitment to improving accessibility and convenience for travelers in the Southeast region. We are proud to offer this service to help streamline international travel for our Trusted Traveler members.
Global Entry is a CBP Trusted Traveler Program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter through automatic kiosks at select airports, significantly reducing wait times at customs.
Enrollment appointments at Charleston International Airport are now available for booking. To schedule your Global Entry interview, use the official TTP website at https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/scheduler and book an appointment at the preferred enrollment center.
