Security Checkpoint
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security screening checkpoint at Charleston International Airport opens daily at 3:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. or the last departing flight. The checkpoint may close earlier or remain open later depending on departing flight schedules. Airlines are responsible for notifying the TSA in advance of a need (such as delays) for extended checkpoint operating hours.
Travel Tips
When to Arrive at CHS
Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes to two hours before scheduled departure to allow enough time to park, check in, and go through security.
Boarding Times
Passenger boarding typically begins 30 to 45 minutes before scheduled departure. Passengers should arrive at their boarding gate ahead of that time to prepare.
Delayed Flights
Even when your flight is delayed, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport before the scheduled closing of the checkpoint to ensure you don’t miss your flight.

TSA Pre✓™ Information
TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case, and keep their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on bag.
The TSA Pre✓™ application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-enrollment process online and visit an application center to provide biographic information (e.g. name, date of birth, address), fingerprints, valid required identity and citizenship/immigration documentation and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership.
