American Airlines customers will have a lot to be thankful for as the airline plans to launch its 5th non-stop flight between Charleston and our Nation’s capital Washington, DC beginning August 18th.
“The addition of a fifth flight is great news for the airport and especially for the Lowcountry and our passengers,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr., executive director and CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority.
“Giving our passengers options when it comes to their air travel is a top priority for us. We believe this announcement will further enhance the business and community needs for air travel,” Campbell said.
“Charleston is a vital part of American’s network for business and leisure customers alike. We’re pleased to increase service to CHS from Washington-Reagan, which complements our existing service from six other hubs,” said Margaret Muir, American’s Manager of Network and Schedule Planning for Washington-Reagan.
"American is one of our legacy carriers and a great partner. Expanding service to Washington is a testament to our region's strength and continued economic growth,” said Helen T. Hill, authority Chair and CEO of Explore Charleston. “It's also a reminder that our airport continues to outperform our competitive destinations."
The flight will be operated by Republic Airways as American Eagle on a dual-class Embraer 175 aircraft. American operates nearly 30 daily flights from CHS.
