London's calling! British Airways launching first transatlantic flight in April 2019

BRITISH AIRWAYS TO LAUNCH CHARLESTON TO LONDON SERVICE
British Airways will launch a twice a week summer service between Charleston and London Heathrow, offering the first transatlantic route for Charleston International Airport.

Tickets for our first transatlantic flight to London go on sale Friday, Oct. 19. The CHS to London flight is aboard a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The flights will run on Thursdays and Sundays with flight BA221 departing from London Heathrow at 5:20 p.m. and arriving in Charleston at 9:20 p.m. that evening. The return flight BA220 will depart Charleston at 10:50 p.m. and arrive in London Heathrow at 11:50 a.m. the next morning.

When the British settled along the Ashley River, passengers aboard sailing vessels anticipated months-long journeys across the Atlantic. Fast forward almost 350 years, and a new direct route between the United Kingdom and Charleston will cut that time to nine hours or less. On Thursday, British Airways announced plans for new, nonstop air service between Charleston and London’s Heathrow Airport.
