Spirit Airlines Announces Nonstop Service to Detroit
(North Charleston)— It will be easier for Charleston area residents to fly to the Midwest this summer. Spirit Airlines announced new nonstop service from Charleston International to Detroit, Michigan (DTW). Service begins July 10th.
“Spirit Airlines continues to deliver on its promise to meet our community's needs with affordable, direct service to some of the most in-demand destinations,” said Elliott Summey, Charleston International Airport CEO and Executive Director. “Nonstop flights to the largest city in the midwestern state of Michigan will give our business and leisure travelers more options getting to the birthplace of the modern automobile and to see all the region has to offer from arts and entertainment to outdoor activities."
“Our Charleston Guests have truly embraced our low fare flight options, supporting our growth and the addition of new, nonstop service to Detroit (DTW) this summer,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines. “The new route will make it more affordable to travel to the Motor City and creates more opportunities for Detroit Guests to explore Charleston and enjoy the city’s rich history.”

Spirit Airlines came to Charleston International Airport in April 2023 and on the first day of service announced new flights from the Lowcountry to Las Vegas, which began in September 2023.
