TSA Lane Reduction and Installation of New X-Ray Machine

(North Charleston)—Effective Friday, August 23rd, travelers at Charleston International Airport should be aware that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint will experience a temporary reduction in lanes due to the installation of a new X-Ray machine in lane 7.

To facilitate this upgrade, TSA will reduce the number of operational lanes from 7 to 6. The installation process is anticipated to be completed within approximately two weeks, with an expected completion date around September 12th.

During this period, travelers should anticipate longer processing times and are advised to plan their arrival at the airport accordingly. TSA is working diligently to minimize disruptions and expedite the process as much as possible while ensuring the new X-Ray machine is properly integrated into the security system.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we implement these enhancements to improve future security and efficiency at the checkpoint.
