The Charleston County Aviation Authority, owner and operator of Charleston International Airport, has been recognized for its continued support of men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserves.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a volunteer organization under the Department of Defense that works to foster a culture in which employers support and value the employment and military services of National Guard and Reserve members in the United States.
The ESGR on Aug. 1 presented a Statement of Support Program plaque to Paul G. Campbell Jr., executive director and CEO of the Aviation Authority.
“Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of our nation’s military Guard and Reserve forces,” said Steve Wichmann, deputy chairman of the ESGR’s Charleston Region.
“The Statement of Support Program is the cornerstone of ESGR’s effort to gain and maintain employer support of the Guard and Reserves,”Wichmann said.
The Aviation Authority employs 184 people, including military retirees and about 30 Guard and Reserves members.
In signing the Statement of Support, Campbell, on behalf of the Aviation Authority, said “we appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills that these service members bring to the workforce. We will continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crisis and in war.”
